World crude steel production in November this year increased by 3.6 percent year on year to 127.36 million metric tons, while a 5.14 percent decline was observed on month-on-month basis, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

In November this year, the average capacity utilization of steel mills across the globe was 75.8 percent, 0.3 percentage points higher compared to November 2012 and 1.7 percentage points lower compared to October of the current year.

In the meantime, total global crude steel production in the first 11 months of the current year rose 3.2 percent compared to the same period of 2012, amounting to 1.45 billion metric tons.

In November, crude steel output in Asia amounted to 83.77 million mt, up 3.9 percent, with 60.88 million mt produced by China, up 4.2 percent, 6.25 million mt produced by Japan, down 2.4 percent, and 9.26 million mt produced by South Korea, up 8.9 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis.

EU-27 countries produced 14.26 million mt of crude steel in November, up by 5.3 percent compared with November 2012. In November this year, Germany's output was 3.66 million mt, up 5.7 percent year on year, Italy's crude steel output was 2.15 million mt, down 4.5 percent year on year, and Spain's crude steel output amounted to 1.22 million mt, up 15.5 percent year on year.

Turkey produced 3.08 million metric tons of crude steel in November this year, with a three percent increase from the same month in 2012.

Iran's crude steel production in November this year amounted to 1.38 million mt, up 12.5 percent compared to November 2012.

The CIS registered a crude steel output of 8.56 million mt in November this year, down 2.5 percent year on year, with Russia producing 5.51 million mt, decreasing 0.7 percent, and Ukraine producing 2.51 million mt, down 7.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

In North America in November, crude steel output totaled 9.86 million mt, up 3.5 percent year on year, with the US producing 7.14 million mt and Mexico producing 1.57 million mt, up 5.3 percent and 0.2 percent respectively on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, crude steel output in South America in November amounted to 3.70 million mt, down by 0.5 percent year on year, with Brazil's output totaling 2.71 million mt, down 2.8 percent year on year.
